On that note (and the not so well disguised reason for this post)I'm soprry I haven't been about much. The new job is with fun people, in a nice environment, and I can walk to it along a river with ducks and trees in blossom and old rusty barges. Howveer, it is also answering the phone and being on the computer all day, with no personal internet allowed! So I've not really been fancying going on much when i get home.
Hopefully I'll get used to the office thing soon, I miss all the LJ goodness! Link me anything really cool you've done (That pretty much means alll of it!)
This made me have happy flasshbacks to Anne Rice, though. The book of "Interview with the Vampire" is alright, but it has the best film adaption of all time. (You may argue against this, but look again at Tom Cruise's wig. Then tell me it isn't the funniest thing you've seen in your life ever. Right? It also features Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas kissing! In long, slightly less silly wigs! And frock coats! YAY!) Also, me and my friends went on holiday once with another one of her books, The Vampire Lestat, and the word "wolfkiller" still cracks us up even now. Man, that scene went on for several millenia.
Um, also? I searched for this on
Also, sorry I've not been around much recently! Hope you all have amazing New Years!
*Waves to you all* Flist LOVE today. You are all fabtastic and I want to go back and see who on my list posted that f-list love banner and steal it from them.
This meme is unbelievably tempting, and stolen from
Ten ways you know you are reading a longhairedlady story
1. It will probably be written for some prompt. Or because of a conversation, or a specific comm, or fic. I always need something to set me of down that path.
2. Unless it has been betaed by the lovely
3. The Winchesters will probably be adults, but will pretty much act like fiteen year old version of the ones we see on the show. I seriously think I write the boys like teenagers. Especially in the way they react to awkward things happening to each other (Laugh until they have to stop to breathe.)
4. I tend to get myself into the same emotional state as the characters I write. This means I like to write happy people. Generally, my characters will break into hopeless laughter at least once per story. I've never quite, I think, captured that feeling when you're so hyped up and giggly that anything makes you laugh, but it's one of my holy writing grails.
5. There will be throwaway references to old unicorn hunts, kareoke parties, and anything else I think is funny. This backstory will never be explained.
6. There will be authors' notes. Possibly related to number one, but I always feel the need to explain why I'm writing a certain something, and generally babble.
7. Dialogue will, generally, be left to run free without much description. This makes for much restful white space, and allows me to pretend I'm writing a radio play *g*
8. If there's mansexing going on, it will be crack. I can't do it with a straight face.
9. Generally, there will be no antagonist, of the antagonist will just be "OMG misunderstood!!11!" Genies, Witches, Ghosts and Giants. I've done it to them all.
10. This is one I just can't stop. A story by me, it seems, will always end on a variant of the line: "Character X smiled, and realised everything would be just fine."
Anyone think of any others? I'd be interested to know what you reckon.
2. Samantha Ferris, who played Ellen, was there, and according to this post by ficwriter1966, she reads the TWOP forumns! This makes me very happy, because back during All Hell Breaks Loose part one, we were totally bouncing around there threatening to feed Kripke to the Loch Ness Monster if Ellen didn't make it out alive. I've mentioned starting up a "Drinking to bring Ellen Harvelle back" movement (a la the JW one) but it seems a bit pointless with the writer's strike and all.
3. My parents came up and brought me cake today. Best present ever! And it's my grandma's Guiness cake, which is amazingly good.
4. Heroes goes out in America tomorrow, and it's supposed to be a really good one!
5. I have exciting fannish projects. I'm still loving the screencap function way more than is healthy, and I might be writing crack fic. My meme from aaaages back is still sitting there in uncompleted state, but at the moment, I really want to write crack about Sam being the Demon Jesus. I want him to have his halo manifesting at awkward times, water turning to wine every time he tries to shower, and roses blooming everywhere he steps. (They would, of course, be pink roses, and Dean would tese him mercilessly.)
(This can all be blamed on the crack fiends over at
6. I've finally figured out how to make my "entry" page all proffessional and standard white, while still keeping my "Hills at dusk" header for my journal amd friends list and stuff. Go me!
Anyway, thought I should rec it! G rated, sort of prose-poetry really, so that you can say it's gen and slash at the same time. Really, really good, especially for any writers out there.
Precious Maybe by fleshflutter.
I should have fic for you in the next few days, so please forgive me the babbling!
My commentary for Conversational Winchester for Trolls is up! Go along, and see how much one girl can squee in the space of one commentary, Turns out, it's a lot. Also contains meta, me being an idiot, and some hearty John Winchester bashing. (Not in that way you perverts.)

A couple of other things.
I got my postcard from
Today, I struck a blow for feminine geekish equality! I bought Empire magazine andthe very smily lady who served me was like "Oh, is this for you?" I said "Um, yes?" Then she was like "We don't get any girls buying that!" She and I both cracked up, with me explaining that I was a massiver geek, then I went to get my train. Take that, male chavinist geekdom at large!
I have beheaded my last insect at the NHM. Tomorrow is my last day. It sucks, but I look foreward to free time!
It's my two month LJ anniversary today!
YAY!
I've met so many lovely people, you guys stun me with your cleverness, funniness and general amazingness on a day to day basis! I've gained a new confidence that I can actually write, too! And tomorrow, I'm meeting up with
kroki_refur, the first person I've ever met up with from the internet! (Yes, she does come from the internet. Literally. I hear she travels through wires.)
It has been, to be honest, a pretty crazy couple of months, thank you guys so much!
I should have bureaucracy fic for you tomorrow, instead of just babbling! And I'm planning something a little...unusual for my two month anniversary of writing fanfic on wednesday! Feel free to guess what it is...
THE RULES:
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
I'm answering for
Weekend tomorrow! Yay!
1. I know I haven't posted any "Bureacracy" in a while, but I plan to seriously knock "Vertigo" on the head tomorrow, I have a load of inspiration and I'm getting itchy fingers!
2. I hate LJ. Polls still refuse to work for me, and I can't figure out why. At the start, I would just post a poll in a cut and it was fine. But now? No way. I have no idea what I've done to piss of the LJ gods so much. So, massive thanks to
principia_coh for posting this week's poll. here it is! Very Serious Questions
3. So, my job! I love the building I get to work in, the people, and the amazing feeling of coldness you get when you accidentally pour 100% ethanol on your gloved hands. Especially the museum., man, it is my favourite place ever I think!
But the work is kinda repetitive, I spent most of today picking insect heads out of tubes and putting them into slightly different tubes. Also, my supervior has never had an assistant before, and doesn't seem to have much idea of what to do with me. I left at 3 today because he just had nothing I could help with. Anyway, sorry for moaning!
who is amazing. She also made me another one, here:
This is ridiculously cool. Thank you so much! Obviously, since I asked for this icon, it doesn't quite put me in leauge with the writers who get made stuff like this, but I feel unbelievably proffessional now, guys!
So, today started out really badly, for boring, exam related reasons. But then it has rapidly developed into a trully awesome day.Thought I would spread the love to my growing, and lovely, flist! For ease, I've divided the reasons this day ruled into real life reasons, and imaginary internet world reasons.
Imaginary awesome internet world
-I got lovely comments on my fic, from lovely people.
-There was that love meme posted, that made me all happy to have joined fandom, to own a computer, and to be able to access the intenet.
-I got an offer from someone at TWOP to beta my fic! I didn't even have to ask! That person is awesome, and I predict that my next fic will be approximatly 7000 times better than the previous ones!
Real world
-So, exams sucked, but the sun has come out for the first time in about a week! I walked down to the shops with my flatmate, and we DIDN'T need coats! You'd almost think it was June, or something!
-Tonight, we cooked spanish food as a flat, and actually had wine! Oh sweet alcohol, how I've missed you during my nights of staying in, nominally revising and instead stalking LJ!
-We went out! Instead of just working, we all went to see POTC3. There was also pre-cinema drinkage. The film left me with a huge smile on my face, even though it was lame in parts. My exam term, suddenly lightweight self is still feeling the effects of the booze. I am in a happy place!

E.T.A Friends don't let friends post drunk! The sentiments remain, but I wish they had been spelled in a better manner. And apparently I use words like "Nominally" when I'm tipsy. How were YOUR fridays, people?
